Days after President Trump demanded that NBC yank Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers from its late-night slate, he’s now setting his sights on David Letterman.
More than a decade after The Late Show with David Letterman aired its final episode, the Commander-in-Chief slammed the famed TV host on Friday night, retroactively dunking on Letterman’s ratings and his appearance.
“Whatever happened to the very highly overrated David Letterman, whose ratings were never very good, either,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform before claiming that the host “looks like hell.”
Don’t Miss
“At least he knew when to quit,” Trump concluded, capping off his post with an all-caps “LOSER!!!”
Trump’s post came hours after Letterman slammed 47’s “authoritarian criminal administration” for its potential role in pushing ABC to indefinitely remove Jimmy Kimmel Live! from the air. “We see where this is all going, correct? It’s managed media,” Letterman said during his Thursday appearance at The Atlantic Festival, describing the Disney-owned network’s decision as “silly,” “ridiculous” and “no good.”
“You can’t go around firing somebody because you’re fearful or trying to suck up to an authoritarian criminal administration in the Oval Office,” he added. “That’s just not how this works.”
Letterman has yet to respond to Trump’s Truth Social tirade.
